A large, multi-functional dining table for maximum comfort.

A foldable camping table is one of those things that you might view as unnecessary, but when you buy it, will wonder how you didn’t get it earlier.

It adds so much comfort and tidiness to preparing food, eating, and storing your items. Especially if there are no picnic tables on your campsite or dispersed camping spot (most likely – there aren’t).

Of course, carrying a large home dining table into the woods would be hilarious. And that’s the beauty of camping gear – even the best quality items fold, pack, and remove the weight from your shoulders.

Ready to add a foldable camping table to your camping gear? We did our tests and selected the best picks to consider!

Key decision-making factors

You’ll see there are multiple types and options that depend on aspects like your camping style, the number of persons, and the primary function you need a camp table to serve. But there are some determining factors inherent in any decent camping gear. Before all else, you’ll want your camping table to be:

Easy to set up

You have work to do when you’re outdoors – pitch a tent, start a campfire, cook food, etc. The last thing you want is to spend time setting up a table. Online reviews (we’ll take that very much into account, too) will quickly reveal if there’s a chance for a struggle.

Sturdy and stable

The primary purpose of a table is to hold things. So, you’ll seek an option strong enough to handle the weight without the risk of crashing. Also, there’s nothing more annoying than lunching at a swinging table that keeps splashing your soup or tea sideways. Aluminum and steel are two incredibly strong yet light materials that you should aim for.

Portable

While weight and size are critical for backpackers, car camping gives you more flexibility in this matter – yet limits are still there. The more compact and light your camping table is, the more joy you’ll have in carrying it to your trip. Foldable camping tables are designed with portability at their core. Again, you should rely on your needs to evaluate what weight and size will work best.

Durable

Money spent on a long-lasting, quality camping table is money well spent. Like any camping gear, a foldable camping table should be ready to go through hot and cold. You’re going to drop it in and off the back of your vehicle (or a backpack, if we talk backpacking), use it in diverse weather conditions, and most likely won’t put too much effort into saving it from scratches or dirt.

Of course, if you don’t plan to use your camp table too often, there are many options to choose from with a lower price tag. Still, the goal is to spend money once and not have to do it again any time soon.

Common types of foldable camping tables

Usually, camp tables are classified per their primary purposes:

  • Cooking station / camp prep table: Multi-purpose tables that need to be stable enough to hold cooking utensils and larger camp cookware like camping stoves. These tables often have multiple storage compartments and extra features like drying rack or paper towel holder.

  • Dining table: Tables that are meant to eat on and serve other purposes like playing games or storing items. Dining tables have enough legroom under the table top. They’re built to resist bumps and hold significant weights without swinging.

  • Accessory table: These are relatively small tables designed for playing games, holding plates and snacks, or storing camping supplies. Accessory tables often stand out with their lightweight and low profile.

It offers ample room for plates, snacks, or a card deck and features two mesh drink holders at the center, adding extra comfort to this collapsible camping table.

Specifications

  • Material: Alloy steel, metal, polyethylene plastic
  • Weight: 19.2 lbs
  • Product dimensions: 24″ x 48″ x 22″
  • Seating capacity: 4 people

Pros

  • Adjustable legs
  • Easy to set up
  • Multi-functional
  • Comfortable to carry
  • Good for families

Cons

  • Swings a bit on the highest setting
  • Buttons to press the legs down are hard to push

Lifetime Height Adjustable portable camping table is an all-around choice for camping, whatever you need a camp table for. It’s a perfect dining table that you’ll find helpful in cooking, storing items, eating, playing games, or even writing – you name it. It’s built to support as much as 200 pounds just fine.

The biggest joy about this camp table comes with its adjustable height settings: 22-inch, 24-inch, 29-inch, and 36-inch. And multiple activities are not only where this versatile height serves. If you’re off on a family camping trip – the reduced table height will aid in comfortably seating your kids.

Lifetime table folds in half and features a carry handle for easy transportation. The only slight con you should be ready for is that adjusting the leg height will require a bit of energy. The first pin will back out when you get one pin pushed and move on to the next. So, you might need two hands and your foot to get it done.

Despite that, considering all the comfort, functionality, and flexibility Lifetime Height Adjustable table gives, it’s a thought-worthy option to add to your camping trips.

Runners up

There are also other options with their unique features that we find worth considering adding to your camping gear list. Let’s see what’s in there!

Cooking station

Specifications

  • Material: Aluminum
  • Weight: 13 lbs
  • Product dimensions: 1″ x 27″ x 17″
  • Package dimensions: ‎25.75″ x 15.98″ x 9.13″

Pros

  • Compartments for easy gear organization
  • Comfortable for carrying
  • Easy to set up

Cons

  • Quite bulky
  • Not suitable for eating at it

Camp Chef Sherpa is a cook station that brings a homelike kitchen experience outdoors. This is a versatile, sturdy roll-top table you can use to place a stove, prepare meals, or even as a dining table (though it’s not built primarily for this purpose).

This camping table features four colored zippered compartments where you can store your cooking utensils and ingredients. Blue section is made from waterproof lining to use as a cooler or a sink. All the dividers unzip if you want to have two large shelves instead of four smaller sections. Or, if you need to, you can not use dividers at all.

Camp Chef Sherpa is easy to transport – all you need to do is squeeze the table legs and place the bags inside their storage compartments. Padded carry handles are convenient for moving the cook station when you’re packed for home.

Though folded, Camp Chef Sherpa still takes quite some space in your cargo. However, this is a game changer for those who love keeping their camping kitchen items well organized and want to whip out the packing struggle before each camping trip.

Leses Portable Picnic table is straightforward to fold – simply detach the table top from the legs and fold it in half. This camp table features a comfy storage bag that’s easy to carry and lightweight enough to bring on any camping trip

This is not a dining table, yet impressively sturdy for its design and can hold a LOT of things – plates, drinks, snacks, books, phones – you name it. Leses is made of high-quality, durable waterproof materials that are easy to clean.

The table top includes four drink pockets, so you’ll be sure they won’t spill when you place them. The bottom storage section offers extra space to store your items, so we’ve been impressed by how much this little foldable table fits.

Specifications

  • Material: Aluminum

  • Product dimensions: 23.6″ x 23.6″ x 27″
  • Package dimensions: 23.6″ x 13″ x 2″

  • Adjustable leg height (10″ in low and 27″ in high)
  • Easy to set up
  • Relatively lightweight
  • Multi-functional

Cons

  • Sturdiness concerns

The Redcamp portable table charmingly combines small weight, portability, and flexibility. It’s multi-purpose and compactly designed to serve as an accessory and a dining table, especially thanks to the adjustable leg height (you can also seat kids at the lowest weight).

Redcamp folds into a small-sized suitcase with a delicate handle and security lach. It’s easy to carry and doesn’t take up much space, making it a worth-considering companion to take on your car or RV camping trip.

One slight con we’ve noticed is a little wobbling. Although the described maximum weight is 90 lbs, we wouldn’t recommend risking it. Half this number – 45 lbs – this small table will hold just fine.

Specifications

  • Material: Aluminum
  • Weight: 14 pounds
  • Product dimensions: 27.6″ x 47.2″ x 29.9″
  • Package dimensions: 48″ x 8.5″ x 4″

Portal is a large, multi-purpose dining table that’ll enable you to enjoy a comfortable and pleasant eating experience when off to the woods.

What we’ve particularly liked about this table is that there are no particular height options to adjust the legs – instead, you can choose whatever from 25.6″ to 29.9″ based on your needs.

It’s bigger (you can also choose medium size, though) than usual tables, giving you plenty of space to hold more items. This Portal camp table features an additional mesh storage space behind the top, which you can easily install or remove. It’s a perfect place to store books, cooking supplies, and snacks.

Portal offers a hassle-free setup with a roll-up aluminum table top, and it packs nicely into a space-saving storage bag for easy transportation. This outdoor table is water, stain-resistant, and easy to clean, so you won’t struggle in case some tea spills on the top or it starts raining.

It’s a quality table designed to stand on any terrain, thanks to its non-slip rubber feet and leg-by-leg adjustable height, so you can take and build wherever you wish without worrying about the uneven ground.

Budget foldable table

Specifications

  • Material: Aluminum
  • Weight: 9 lbs
  • Product dimensions: 8″ x 8″ x 28.5″
  • Package dimensions: ‎28.54″ x 8.27″ x 4.92″

Pros

  • Holds a lot of weight
  • Easy to set up and pack
  • Budget-friendly
  • Lightweight
  • Easy to carry

Cons

  • Lacks legroom
  • Not suitable for eating at it
  • Sturdiness concerns

Coleman Compact is a budget foldable camping table that does exactly what it’s meant for only around $30. It’s a lightweight, space-saving option that would serve well on a backpacking trip.

It features a snap-together design for easy assembly and folding. How it works: Spread the frame out, snap in two poles, and stretch the unrolled top across. Legs and frame pull out, and the table top is in the same bag as the leg assembly.

The more weight you put on Coleman Compact, the sturdier it becomes. We tried loading 60 pounds on it – and it obviously would handle a lot more.

It’s not a dining table – so to say, two people could sit across from each other on the standard camping chairs, but it’s not a comfortable option to sit up under the table and eat (it’s too high and lacks legroom). Though, it works fine for putting the plates down, and holding drinks, snacks, and seasoning.

Bottom line

As with any camping gear, in the end, it all comes down to your needs. We’ve reviewed different foldable camping tables that vary in features but are great performers to consider for your next camping adventure. Hope you found what you were looking for.
